About the event

The first of three evening vespers during our Fellows Cohort Retreat at Pendle Hill is co-sponsored by our generous hosts at Pendle Hill and offered as a hybrid gathering. The word vespers comes from the Latin vesper, meaning “evening star,” and in many Christian traditions it refers to a quiet time of prayer, reflection, and spiritual teaching at the close of day. In this spirit, Friends and guests are invited to settle together into a contemplative evening space that blends learning with worshipful attentiveness. Vespers will last from 30mins to 45mins. Presentations on Wednesday, April the 8th, and Thursday, April the 9th, at the same time will be on the relationship between a minister and their elder and the recent experience of creating a working group on public ministry in a liberal, unprogrammed Quaker meeting. You can find registration availble for each of these on our events page as well.
